For this brief I was asked to produce a letter, CV, PDF Portfolio and a Flash website to sell myself to agencies and apply for work placement with them.

This was a great module and I really enjoyed it because it was a chance for me to put my character and personality on to paper.

I’m very pleased with the final outcomes and I’m currently waiting to hear off my chosen agency for an interview for work placement.

For this brief I was asked to “Produce a visual statement which describes the essence of Rowan Williams.”

My answer to this brief was to create 3 double sided posters that hung from the ceiling, so that when you walked underneath them you would see the two different sides of Rowan Williams.

They would also show the two extreme sides of Christianity, which show Rowan Williams in a different way to how people might originally portray him.

“Create an original and underground viral to drive a diverse and creative audience to the Fred Perry Subculture music website.”

After doing my research and talking to different people I came up with the idea of creating an interactive viral that starts off as a TV advert and ends up with you digesting the promotional info for the Subculture website in the comfort of your own home, while getting yourself a free Fred Perry Subculture USB stick along the way.

I created the underground advert in the style of a Pirate TV takeover by Fred Perry Subculture, with a lack of info to keep the audience intrigued.

I created the advert in Adobe After Effects giving it a grime, grunge, underground look.

Once you do what the ad says and text ‘WTF?!’ to 08800 you get sent a text message containing a link for you to visit on the computer.

On the website you have to fill in a form to get your free USB stick containing promotional info about the Fred Perry Subculture website, some free mp3’s and a Desktop Wallpaper.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this brief and had great fun creating my finished outcomes.

BUT – You can not be asked to create a viral as it is impossible. A viral creates itself, and I hope I met the requirements for this form of advertisement to become a viral.

For this brief we had to create a print based outcome for a client, that would send the message on how to be a sustainable designer’ out to to an audience.

We chose to give the serious almost boring message some ’snaz’ and ‘wit’ by telling them to double check the briefs given to them by clients to see if there was any way to create a design in a more environmentally friendly and sustainable way.

We used a pun on the word ‘Brief’ to make it a more fun and lighthearted.

The message is delivered in a little box that is built using no glue to keep it sustainable and to give the audience a more interactive experience.

It’s been designed with a minimal look to engage the audience and make them want to look at ‘the package’.

Inside the box you get a number of goodies, which include a set of briefs with the ‘do your briefs fit’ logo on them, a recycling bag to get you started, and a booklet containing, facts, and info on the best way to be a sustainable designer.

The client was very impressed and a self confessed HUGE fan of the final outcome.

The aim of this project was to create a page of type that showed you as a person.

By using key words about myself I then found that helvetica was an appropriate typeface to use for the design.

After finding the typeface and key words I went on to lay the type out using my own personality as an example of how it should look.

In the 1st week of uni everyone got given a different object to keep, and work with over the time period of a month.

I got given a disposable Bic razor.

The first design brief was to show shape & material.

I rose to the challenge by designing a very graphical blue print style design with outline drawings of the shape of the object and full colour images to get the full effect.

I also used a kiwi fruit to demonstrate how sharp the razor was and to show it was the smallest yet most important part of material in the object.

For the second brief we had to show form and function in the design.

I decided to create a more wacky, fun piece by showing the form and function literally.

I showed the purpose of the razor by shaving the Bic logo into Zebras and having the Razor stand tall like a worshiped statue in Africa.

I then created a mechanical section of the design where if you pulled the hand across it would shave off the grass, demonstrating form and function.
